in a moment of enlightenment i had an idea about the defining difference between religion and philosophy

in religion there is the concept of the non-believer, and there is the root of all the problems religion has caused in the world.

she calls it a misunderstanding of what she said, but when you use the word "assassination" it seems pretty clear, watch her say it for yourself.

for me this comes across as saying "i don't know why people want me to leave the race because obama is going to get killed anyway"

the democratic party needs to ban her for life

It is easier for most people to believe that CEOs, celebrities, and politicians have some sort of supernatural powers
Than to accept the reality that they are weak, fragile, and flawed; just like everyone else
They have problems making decisions and expressing themselves just like you

The key to success in this world is to surround yourself with individuals that share a common understanding
A politician is one simply because they know how to act like one, know how to speak to other politicians in a way that is understood
Executives share a common language, as do artists, or writers, or programmers
These common tongues take years of experience to master
So it is often in youth that one chooses a path that they will follow the remainder of their life
But in knowing how the system operates there arises the opportunity to change ones status
Or, perhaps, to create a new language

This is not a trivial matter
It can not be taken lightly
It is not something one can simply decide to do
The effort must be conscious and planned
It must be a deliberate act executed with intense dedication
Those who understand will select themselves to join you
They can not be forced
And accepting this may be the most difficult task of all

i have pretty much stopped visiting livejournal.com
been so very busy with other things
and, i dunno, i think most of you are in the same boat so i don't have to explain too much

but i feel a bit of guilt
cuz at one point this was a medium for keeping up w/ friends
and to ignore it is to be out of touch with them
nothing personal
just becoming more isolated (with one exception... r3)

hope you are well

Intelligence is learned
Wisdom is earned

No matter how many books {magazines, blogs, etc.} you have read, nothing replaces practical experience. At the end of the day your methodologies and acronyms don't amount to much if the job is not finished.

all the reviews i have read of superman returns (90% saying it is bad) come off as an essay about salvation, religion, and the plight of man versus ideal.
at the very least, even if the film is bad, it has forced the critics to ponder these notions.

i can not help but think that part of the reason for the bad reviews is that film is making people uncomfortable
in the same light i also feel there is a glint of hunger for films that tackle these concepts effectively
the matrix was not that great, but consider the cult trend it produced

X-Men 3 is sooooo bad that it made me ill. Worst movie i have seen in at least a decade.
Bad acting, cheap special effects, horrible script.
avoid it.

i know you should be allowed to make up you own mind, but download it, or wait until it is on cable or something, just do not spend any money on it.

it is nearly impossible for humankind to make something that is not an extension of itself

house = skin
car = legs
computer = brain

with this in mind, it is my feeling that we can look to our creations to gain a better understnading of ourselves

using pesticide on bedbugs has created a new bedbug boom by ensuring only pesticide resistant bed bugs survive

always throwing back the little fish has created a world fish population of smaller weaker fish since those are the only ones to survive

we create a natural selection system that favors the most undesirable traits

Hey folks, I got married (01/19), I turned 31 (01/23), and I started a new job (01/23). My wife (that still sounds weird) and I think this is good reason to get together with some friends and get ripped. So this Friday (01/27) we are going to go to Remote Lounge (http://www.remotelounge.com/directions.html) around 10:30pm to partake of some dancing, drinking, and absurdity. We would love if you and your peeps would come join us.

7/24 * 1/100 = 29.17%
78 - 29.17% = 55.2474

lets be generous and round up to 56 (also being generous by assuming only 7 hours of sleep per day)

A person with with a 78 year lifespan really only gets 56 years of living, they will spend 22 years sleeping!

at least we are on the right track

innovation typically involves breaking free of standard conventions and rules
people that claim to be on the bleeding edge of new technology justify their claim by pointing to how closely they adhere to standards guidelines

the ideas of academic versus practical have been on my mind quite a bit lately
